Angel Stadium ~ The BIG “A”- ~ The fireworks show is after the game. This could be dueling fireworks with nearby Disneyland! I’ve seen it myself while on the 57 freeway.

Brea ~ Brea’s Annual Country Fair FREE event at City Hall Park (also home to the Brea Plunge)  just south of Imperial Hwy. The day begins at 7:00 a.m. with the annual pancake breakfast. Festivities continue till 4:00.

Fullerton ~ FULLERTON HIGH STADIUM Show begins 5:00 p.m. with fireworks at 9:00, tickets are approximately $2 to $4.

Huntington Beach ~ JULY 4TH PARADE! I’ve done this one myself (on bikes) several times, it’s right up Main Street. Then head over to the SURF CITY PIER for a day of fun, Fireworks at dusk.  Limited VIP seating $10 bucks.

La Habra ~ LA HABRA HIGH SCHOOL STADIUM ~ Entertainment for the whole family begins at 5:00 p.m. & fireworks at 9:00. Call (562) 905-9708.

Memorial Day 2011 is a time for remembrance of those who’ve served and those who’ve paid the ultimate price…keeping us free.

While for some Memorial Day may mean a long week-end, for retailers it’s reason to promote a sale, for me it’s also a time to remember and say thanks to those who have served and are now serving along with the families they leave behind. That’s why I’m sharing this list with you now, a list of events throughout the SoCal.

• Anaheim ~ Anaheim Cemetary ~ Memorial Day Program, Monday the 30th, 11:00 a.m. 1400 E. Sycamore Ave.
• Brea ~ Memory Gardens in Brea ~ 455 W. Central Ave. Brea and the “Avenue of Flags. It’s been an event I’ve personally addended many times over the years. The beautiful American Flags are usually put up by local Boy Scouts. It’s a real sight to see.
• Fullerton ~ Loma Vista Cemetary, The U.S. Army’s 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment will be the focus of a special salute Monday, May 30, at the 73rd Annual Fullerton Memorial Day Observance.
• L.A. ~ Honor and Remembrance, Monday, May 30, 2011 10:30 am Los Angeles National Cemetery is hosting 122nd Annual Memorial Day Program honoring the memory of the Brave Men and Women Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice to Give the Gift of Freedom to our great nation.
• West Los Angeles ~ Walk for Your Warrior, Monday, May 30, 2011  10:30 a.m. ~ Fun, Prizes and More, a family-friendly 5K Walk/Run to benefit New Directions a nonprofit agency that assists homeless veterans.  Join the West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce  in walking in honor of those who have served and those who are currently serving in the Armed Forces.
• Long Beach ~ Queen Mary Salutes U.S. Military Personnel The Queen Mary will offer FREE admission to all U.S. active and retired military personnel on Memorial Day. Memorial Day Monday, 10 am – 6 pm,  1126 Queen’s Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802 Cost: Free for retired and active military with ID, regular price for all others Parking: $12.
• Palm Springs ~ Palm Springs Air Museum Memorial Day Flower Drop. This is a very special day at Palm Springs Air Museum and an event I’ve attuned myself, that’s where I took this photo. The brief Memorial service is dedicated to all of othe  fallen soldiers, who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.To honor them the flight is  the highlight of the service with a fly-by and flower drop of over 3,000 red and white carnations from a B-25 Mitchell.  Visitors are welcome to pick up a flower to take home.
• Yorba Linda ~ May 30 at 2:00 PM – Memorial Day Ceremony Please join friends and neighbors in honoring our nation’s fallen heroes at the Memorial Day Ceremony being held at the Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial on Valley View Ave north of YL Blvd.

So what ever you decide to do this Memorial Day, I’d encourage you to show your appreciation to a Vet!

Whether it’s a loan modification or a short sale itself, it’s said that 1 out of 7 homeowners who either purchased or re-financed a home since 2005 is in trouble.

Thursday, August 12th is the date, the downtown Downtown Disney District is the place for this great event. It’s the 3rd annual “taste” event to support the extraordinary CHOC ~ Children’s Hospital of OC. 

Anyone who’s ever experienced the great things that take place at CHOC knows all to well its an amazing place with dedicated and caring professionals.  We know that first hand for ourselves, the photo is one I took one day  in the 3rd floor playroom. This was a special day for the kid’s the “Angel Girls” paid a visit.

So head on out  for the evening to taste the famous fares from the  likes of   House of Blues, Catal Resturant & Uva Bar, ESPN Zone (this one needs no explanation, right?),  Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen (btw, one of my faves) and Tortilla Jo’s + others.  Like wine and sprits? Look no further for selected parings of  wine, sprits and beer.

If desserts are more your style, you will be happy to know there will be an array of delicious and decadent desserts to please any palate.

Here’s a list of local markets to cruise around in northern Orange Co.   I’ve been to many of these myself and never been disappointed!

Brea ~ Tuesdays 4:00-8:30 ~location is Birch Stree in downtown Brea. It’s a happening place for local produce and some of the best doggone cakes (you’ve got to try these) I’ve ever tasted. 

Fullerton ~ Thursday 6:30-8:30  ~ location is on Wilshire (downtown Fullerton) between Harbor & Pomona, and this is also one of the larger markets  around.  Enjoy local produce, entertainment, kid’s activities and a wine & beer garden to boot.

Placentia ~ Saturday 9:00 am-1:00pm  ~ location is at the corner of Bradford and Santa Fe in old Placentia.  In addition to local fresh fruits and vegtable they’ve got baked goods and other fine foods. This one is new, check it out.

Yorba Linda ~ Saturday 9:00 -1:00 pm~ location  is on Main St. and Imperial Hwy.  Certified produce, crafters and more, you can see it right off of Imperial Hwy. in the old part of town just off of Yorba Linda Blvd.

Local farmers markets are a great way to find local/fresh produce and fun entertainment, art & crafts while enjoying the outdoors in So Cal. It can be a fun time for the whole family Check these out in your local areas.
