Friday Freebies is about sharing FREE things to do in & around the southland.

Here’s just one for the kids and the family for summer 2010.

FREE ADMISSION to the Nixon Presidential Library in beautiful Yorba Linda. That’s right FREE admission for the kids and families from 10:30 am till noon daily.

This summer features a special presentation called “Meet the Presidents” with special presentations, pictures with the presidents, coloring play time, punch and cookies.

Next to be featured, President Abraham Lincoln ~ August 3rd.

The Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library is a great place to visit for so many reasons. We’ve been there many times ourselves…and what a great place to visit for FREE.

The little house at the library is the birthplace of the 37th President of the United States. The grounds of the library is also the final resting place for the President and First Lady.

Who says there’s no FREE lunch? Maybe true, yet YOU will find free admission to the Richard M. Nixon Presidental Library in beautiful Yorba Linda, Ca.

That’s right, celebrate President’s Day 2/15/2010 with FREE admission to the library!

Hours are from 10:00 to 5:00.

So round up the kids or just head over there yourself on Monday, President’s Day, the first 100 in attendance will receive a complimentary cherry pie!

The museum is located in beautiful Yorba Linda, CA in northern Orange County. Yorba Linda was the birthplace of Richard M. Nixon and is now the final resting place of the President and First Lady. Click here for the location and directions to the museum.

These photos are ones I took on a recent visit last December. We attuned a special exhibit of “trains” that the kids absolutely loved.

Marine One, on the left is open for interior viewing as you walk though with a docent. Our docent that day explained to the kids how the helicopter was also used by four presidents, including Kennedy, Johnson and Ford.

Presidential libraries are of huge interest to me, yet I’ve only seen a few of them myself.

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 1:00. Stop by for some of the freshest grown fruits and vegetable around.

Need a gift? Local crafters showcase their talents with one-of-a-kind creations, along food vendors, plants and flowers.

What a great way to spend a Saturday morning in beautiful So Cal.

Kind hearts & a Caring Community ~ Yorba Linda, CA

Yorba Linda, CA is a wonderful community of those who take the time and make the effort to give back.

One thing I love most in this weblog is, a voice to share what I love most about living in Southern California. That includes great places, wonderful experiences and most important…exceptional people, who make a difference in the lives of others.

Two of those exceptional individuals with caring hearts are Laura and Gretchen, two Yorba Linda moms. Gretchen organized a fund-raising event to assist the family of Katie G. a 5-year old oncology patient. Gretchen planned a family night at a local ice skating rink the Yorba Linda Ice Palace, in addtion (with the help of others, yet to be acknowledged) also held a silent auction, creating many of the gift baskets herself. I met Laura myself for the first time when she was loading her vehicle with auction items heading to the ice rink.

Both of these wonderful individuals, along with others are to be recognized for their efforts and taking the time out of their own busy lives to give-back to others in their community.

My gratitude goes out to Gretchen and Laura and all of those who participated in this event. And also to all who attended and participate in any way.

AUDITIONS SET FOR BYE-BYE BIRDIE

YORBA LINDA’S Spotlight Youth Theater Company any is holding OPEN auditions for performers ages 8-19 years old at the time of audition.

Date: Friday June 1^st 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday ~ June 2^nd 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Location: Yorba Linda Community Center Performances will take place at the Yorba Linda Forum Theater, August 3 – 12, 2007
