CHOC WALK @ Disneyland ~ Sunday Oct 18

October 15th, 2009 · No Comments · Events

Sunday, October 18,  it’s the annual CHOC WALK for Children’s Hospital of Orange at Disneyland.  The year marks the 19th year for the inspiring event.

We’ve done it several times ourselves as a family, CHOC WALK @ Disneyland ~ Sunday Oct 18 the photo bottom right was taken at the 2007 walk. Our team known as “Katie’s Krew” for little Katie G. who was first diagnosed with Leukemia at age 5. Katie has spent more than her fair share of time in treatment  at CHOC in Orange. It’s an amazing place where they treat sick kids irrespective of their ability to pay.  The hospital staff is a caring and compassionate crew themselves. CHOC volunteers are some of the kindest and giving individual I’ve ever met.

The Disneyland walk begins with opening ceremonies on Main Street USA inside of Disneyland. From there the walkers move through the different lands of the park early in the a.m. prior to opening for the public. The walk (about the same as a 3K) meanders through the park including a behind the scene look for participants. Disney’s cast member are there to participate and encourage walkers. From there the course moves  you though areas of  the California Adventure CHOC WALK @ Disneyland ~ Sunday Oct 18 and finiishes near Downtown Disney just in time for breakfast.

Last year the event raised over 1.6 million dollars for the kids.  It’s a great event and best of all, there is still time to register, just check it out here.

Can’t walk? There’s  still time to sponsor a  walker or make a general donation here.
