Living In Socal

It was a hot summer day, July 4th week-end and a great time to enjoy the beach.

Huntington to Newport Beach  was the spot for us for a great day of biking the beach trail. It’s only a “trail” by SoCal thinking… it’s paved all the way with blacktop or concrete, yet it’s always a fun ride for many.

This ride was no exception.  Along the way we came across two engaging young people sitting on the side.  They had beautiful smiles and were holding two big signs reading “HELP FUND OUR HONEYMOON, PLEASE…BUY COLD ICE WATER”.

As we rode past these two more than conspicous young people with their huge signs not to be outdone with their two broad smiles they got out attention.   My good friend Marlene (riding along)said to our group, “it looks like they’re working on their honeymoon” …with that we had to turn around to pay then a visit.

We soon discovered Ben and Kira were actually engaged to be married this November, and of course to each other.  They were two very enterprising young folks spending their time working to make a few extra bucks in anticipation of their soon-to-be-honeymoon. They were sitting on two large coolers serving up ice cold bottle waters to passer-bys along the way.  It was a real contrast in compairson to others in Newport later in the day.

Both Ben and Kira were very engaging and willing to talk to others with a friendly and warm attitude for us all.  Ben and Kira if you find this post, please leave me a comment to let me know you visited. BTW, it took longer than expected, a few issues with my brand new camera.
